Friendswood, TX – September 16, 2026 – Akshay Kumar, a Friendswood-area business development professional, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, has received recognition from several nonprofit organizations in India for his continued involvement in community support and social impact initiatives.
The recognition reflects a side of Kumar’s work that has evolved alongside his business career. While his professional experience spans real estate, finance, marketing, portfolio management, and business development, he has also remained involved with organizations working to improve access to basic resources and create more sustainable forms of community support.
Kumar has said that his approach to philanthropy is closely connected to the same long-term thinking he applies to business.
“I believe charitable work should not only provide temporary relief, but also create sustainable systems, organizations, and models that can continue serving communities without constantly depending on outside funding,” Kumar said.
That focus appears throughout letters provided by nonprofit organizations that have worked with or received support from Kumar.
Yash Sewa Samiti, a registered organization based in New Delhi, thanked Kumar for what it described as support provided over several years. The organization noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, his assistance helped support the distribution of food, rations, sanitary items, and other essential aid to families experiencing hardship.
The organization also connected Kumar’s support to programs involving meal and ration distribution, health camps, sanitary product distribution, vocational training for women, self-reliance initiatives, local entrepreneurship, health awareness, and environmental activities. Another letter, issued by Yug Sanskriti Nyas, described Kumar’s involvement across several areas of service. The organization credited him with remaining connected to community needs in India while living in the United States during the pandemic and with helping Indian students who were stranded abroad return safely to India. The letter also cited his involvement in de-addiction support and road safety initiatives.
For Kumar, those efforts are part of a broader belief that meaningful impact comes from staying involved over time rather than focusing on a single project.
“Purpose is what keeps the engine going,” Kumar said. “It gives meaning to the work, direction to the effort, and strength during difficult moments.”
A November 2025 appreciation letter from Amrittulya Foundation in New Delhi also recognized Kumar for contributions related to social upliftment, leadership, community initiatives, and COVID-19 relief efforts. The foundation described his continued guidance and encouragement as valuable to several of its programs.
Kumar’s interest in social impact is rooted partly in his family background. His parents immigrated to the United States and built a business that eventually grew into a successful real estate enterprise. Watching them develop that business gave him early exposure to entrepreneurship, discipline, and long-term planning.
His family also shaped his views on service. Kumar has spoken about the influence of his sister, Shipra Kumar, whose disability gave him an early understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals and their families. That experience helped deepen his interest in disability support, access to opportunity, and community-based philanthropy.
Professionally, Kumar earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Penn State University in 2015 and later earned an MBA from Rice University in 2024, graduating with honors from both programs. His career has included work across business development, finance, marketing, real estate, and portfolio management in the United States and India.
He sees those business skills as useful beyond the commercial world. Planning, organization, resource management, and long-term thinking can also help nonprofit initiatives become more structured and sustainable.
“Success is measured by both the outcome achieved and the standards maintained along the way,” Kumar said. “It is not only about what you accomplish, but also how you accomplish it.”
For Kumar, the letters of appreciation serve as recognition of work that has developed over years rather than as the end of a particular effort. His goal is to continue combining entrepreneurship with community involvement while supporting organizations that are already working directly with people who need resources, guidance, and opportunity.
